I have been using Quicken software along with Wells Fargo Express Web Connect for many, many years.
Also referred to as 2-way OFX, Direct Connect allows customers to not only pull transactional data, but also send instructions for things like internal transfers and Online Bill Payments (as well as the latters payees) without requiring the customer to log in to Online Banking separately.
Also referred to as 1-way OFX, Web Connect is a method of bringing bank transactional information into financial management software where the end users software imports data from Online Banking (typically by downloading a file).
As the communication is only one-way, the financial software cannot communicate directly with Online Banking, and can only pull static information.
Once you set up a transfer from within Quicken/Quick Books, you must perform a One Step Update to send those transactions to Online Banking.
You will receive a confirmation from Quicken/Quick Books once the transactions have been completed.
Typically, the current version of Quicken/Quick Books plus the prior two versions are supported. You can download and export up to 18 months' worth of Vanguard transaction history into Quicken. After you download your data, your operating system should automatically recognize the file and import it directly into your Quicken records. The Quicken software will compare the new download with older information to record only new transactions and eliminate any duplicates. Intuit no longer supports previous versions of Quicken.Vanguard cannot provide technical support for Quicken. For technical assistance, we recommend visiting Intuit's website or calling 888-311-7276 (charges may apply).
